TheWolfpacker.com’s Thursday Morning Newsstand

NC State continues its challenging final stretch of the regular season Thursday with a matchup against No. 11 Duke— one of the best teams in the ACC. This is the Wolfpack’s third-consecutive matchup against a top-20 opponent and its second-straight game on the road.

Duke will host the Wolfpack after finishing last week with one win and won loss. Virginia Tech held the Blue Devils to just 45 points in a blowout victory for the Hokies Feb. 16. A few days later, Virginia played a competitive game but lost 56-52.

Thursday will be Duke’s first home game sine Feb. 12, and the matchup will be NC State’s final road game of the regular season.

The Blue Devils lead the ACC in points allowed per game by a significant margin, holding opponents to just 50.7 points per game and 34.5 percent shooting from the field. Senior guard Celeste Taylor leads Duke in scoring at 11.7 points-per-game.

Quote of the day

This quote is from class of 2025 quarterback Zachary Lawrence talking about why NC State is his dream school.

“I came back just due to the atmosphere,” Lawrence said. “The atmosphere is awesome. It’s like nowhere I’ve ever been before. I’ve been to multiple colleges, you name it along the East Coast especially, I’ve been there, and the brotherhood there is different.

“It’s a very blue collar school. I love that. They work. They’re not as much about looks. They’re more about football, straight football, just pounding the rock, throwing the ball, everything, just fundamental stuff, and I love it.”
