NC State Newsstand: Isaac Trumble named ACC Wrestler of the Week
After a dominant weekend on the mat, NC State heavyweight Isaac Trumble was named the ACC’s Wrestler of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
Trumble, who used a redshirt year to focus on the Olympic trials last season, has returned to the Wolfpack lineup with a newfound confidence. He put that to use with a 3-0 mark in a trio of dual matches over the weekend, including two ranked wins.
The Springfield, Neb., native knocked off No. 33 Sebastian Garibaldi of Princeton in a fall, while he beat No. 4 Yaraslau Slavikouski of Rutgers 2-0. Trumble is now the No. 6 heavyweight in the country in Intermat’s rankings, while FloWrestling slotted him at No. 5 after the stellar weekend.
NC State wrestling hosts Utah Valley, which is led by former Pack assistant Adam Hall, in a dual meet on Saturday night at 7 p.m. inside Reynolds Coliseum.

Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren wants his team to finish the year strong, looking for its fifth straight bowl appearance.
“The last thing you want to do is settle,” Doeren said. “The fact that we’re 5-5, yeah, it’s disappointing for sure. But I care a lot about how you finish and how you face up to the tests that you have left. This one’s going to be a physical test. … It’s a great opportunity to stand up and fight.”
