The Wolfpacker’s Wednesday morning newsstand

NC State men’s basketball head coach Kevin Keatts retooled his staff and roster this offseason, bringing in several new assistant coaches and four experienced transfer athletes. That includes former La Salle forward Jack Clark who, after a strong preseason, is garnering a lot of hype from national media.

On3’s Jamie Shaw recently published a list of his top-5 ACC transfers heading into the fall and highlighted Clark. The 6-8 forward from Pennsylvania scored 12 points per game during his redshirt-junior season with La Salle, while also displaying some impressive rebounding ability with 5.8 boards per game.

Kevin Keatts’ teams are at their best when he has a four-man who is an offensive threat and able to guard,” Shaw wrote. “Jack Clark is a transfer from LaSalle who can space the floor, make a play, and guard multiple spots. At 6-foot-8, he has good length, and early returns are his 29 percent three-point shooting from last season is not indicative of the threat he is. Clark’s transfer to the Wolfpack did not come with much hype, but the spacing he could provide for Terquavion Smith to work and his defensive versatility may be just what the doctor ordered.”

Tweets of the day

Dennis Parker II, a four-star forward and one of NC State’s top men’s basketball recruiting targets, will announce his commitment Wednesday afternoon. The Wolfpack is one of his three finalists, joining Oklahoma State and Georgetown.

Cannon Lewis became NC State’s first commit of the 2024 class this week, and he thinks very highly of Wolfpack defensive coordinator Tony Gibson.

NC State’s women’s basketball season starts very soon, and the Wolfpack will play in the two top non-conference matchups this fall according to the ACC Network’s Kelly Gramlich.

Wolfpack guard Terquavion Smith was named to the 2022 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award Watch List.

Quote of the day

This quote is from women’s basketball guard Saniya Rivers discussing why using NIL opportunities to raise money for The V Foundation is important to her.

“Unfortunately, I know a lot of people, both family and friends, that have been affected by cancer,” Rivers told On3. “It breaks my heart. Cancer is awful! Being a part of this campaign gives me the opportunity to educate others on cancer and research and how they can help. I’m learning a lot, too.

“I know that one in every eight women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Cancer doesn’t discriminate, which is why I feel it’s so important for everyone to be aware and support this campaign.”
