Another freshman All-America list, another honor for NC State rookie right-handed pitcher Jacob Dudan. His latest recognition? Baseball America’s second team Freshman All-America nod.

Dudan, who was previously named a first team Freshman All-American by D1Baseball, made the ACC All-Freshman team after his stellar first season with the Wolfpack. Dudan paced the Pack’s pitching staff with 27 appearances, all out of the bullpen, where he racked up six saves in the process.

The Huntersville, N.C., native did not allow an earned run in his first eight collegiate appearances. He finished this season with a 4-2 record, 4.50 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched.

Dudan was a Raleigh Regional All-Region selection after he fanned 10 batters in two appearances to help NC State to the Athens Super Regional. He was stellar against Georgia, too, where he logged 1.2 innings of relief with two strikeouts, including getting out of a bases-loaded jam.

In all, Dudan led the Wolfpack’s pitchers with four total appearances on the mound with 13 strikeouts in the process.

NC State Quote of the day

Wolfpack center Zeke Correll was injured during spring practice, which seems to have helped his leadership skills moving forward.

“He had to really learn how to lead from the back,” Doeren told TheWolfpacker.com. “I think that’s helped him now because when he’s in the front — all spring he was an encouragement guy, he wasn’t demanding because he wasn’t playing — now he can demand. In retrospect, this was a really good thing for him to go through. It’s helped him grow into a better leader from the front.”
