During the NC State’s nail-biting loss to Syracuse, Jarkel Joiner became the fourth athlete in Wolfpack men’s basketball history to record a triple double. He recorded 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in the matchup.

Joiner entered elite company with that accomplishment. It was the fifth triple-double in program history. Julius Hodge, Markell Johnson and Dennis Smith Jr., who finished his career with two, all recorded at least one during their respective NC State careers as well, according to bet365.

The graduate student guard tied the team lead in points with DJ Burns and Jack Clark, shooting 6 of 17 from the field and 3 of 9 from deep. He played nearly the entire the game, logging 38 minutes in the loss to the Orange.

Tweets of the day

Despite Sunday’s loss to Virginia on the road, NC State women’s basketball remained ranked in the latest edition of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Wolfpack dropped down to No. 24 in the rankings.

NC State has lost 3 of its past 4 matchups, with its lone win in that stretch coming against Wake Forest. Going into the final four matchups of the program’s regular season, the Pack stands 17-8 overall and 7-7 in the ACC.

No. 17 UNC travels to Raleigh Thursday night for a rivalry showdown at Reynolds Coliseum. Virginia Tech (No. 9), Notre Dame (No. 10) and Duke (No. 11) are all ranked in the top-25 as well.

Head coach Kevin Keatts and Jim Boeheim had an extended conversation in the handshake line after NC State’s loss to Syracuse, but it sounds like there was no animosity in the exchange based on this report from Jeff Goodman.

Tuesday’s matchup was full of controversial calls, including this one on Ebenezer Dowuona.

Quote of the day

This quote is from class of 2025 tight end Gus Ritchey discussing his recent offer from NC State.

“It’s such a big deal for me and my family,” Ritchey said. “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time now, and I’m so glad that I’ve impressed the staff and shown my athletic ability to them, and I’m just really, really excited. They are definitely on the top, no doubt.”
