After putting together an All-ACC season with NC State during his lone season in Raleigh, electrifying combo guard Jarkel Joiner is making the most of his pre-draft process. He accepted an invitation to the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament and impressed the media members in attendance during his first game.

Joiner scored 19 points and impressed ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

“NC State’s Jarkel Joiner locked up defensively all game, never running out of energy while dropping 19 points and playing simple, unselfish basketball in a blowout win,” Givony wrote on Twitter.

Sports Illustrated’s Global Scouting Twitter account echoed that sentiment.

“Jarkel Joiner impressed with his scoring instincts, shot-making ability, and defensive tenacity,” the account wrote. “Made an impressive impact on both ends of the floor.”

Sales Systems, LTD, the former NC State guard’s team, won the game 119-82. Joiner played 26 minutes, shooting 7 of 15 from the field and 5 of 9 from deep. He also dished out 3 assists, grabbed 3 rebounds and recorded 4 steals.

His next game will be played Friday, April 14, at 9 p.m. EST.
