Elite in-state wide receiver Jonathan Paylor continued to narrow down his recruitment Wednesday. He released a top five schools list that included NC State, South Carolina, Penn State, Maryland and UNC.
The priority class of 2024 playmaker officially visited the Tar Heels, Terrapins, Wolfpack and Gamecocks in that order this spring. South Carolina has been the public leader of his recruitment for months, and the SEC hosted him on his final visit going into a July decision.
With that said, his trip to Raleigh the week prior helped narrow the gap.
“Right now, they’re neck and neck with South Carolina,” Paylor said after his NC State official visit.
Wolfpack freshman wide receiver Kevin Concepcion hosted the rising senior. Paylor also spent a lot of time with head coach Dave Doeren and said he feels like a clear priority.
“I’m soaking it all in and realizing like ‘Okay, I’m really important to NC State,’ so let’s see what I can do about it,” Paylor said.
The On3 Industry Ranking considers him the No. 185 recruit in the country, the No. 29 wide receiver and the No. 4 prospect in North Carolina. South Carolina leads his Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 91.6 percent.
