Kevin Concepcion won the starting inside receiver job at NC State going into his freshman season and, through 4 games, has been the most outstanding player on the Wolfpack offense. He leads the Pack in receptions and receiving yards.

After an impressive, 2-touchdown performance against UVA, Charles Power awarded Concepcion the On3 national freshman of the week award.

Kevin Concepcion was tabbed as an instant contributor shortly after arriving on campus at NC State,” Power wrote. “The Charlotte (N.C.) Chambers product has lived up to the hype and looks like the Wolfpack’s top receiver just a few games into his college career. Concepcion had his best game to date with an outstanding showing on Thursday night in NC State’s 24-21 win at Virginia. Concepcion caught six passes for 116 yards and two scores.

“This isn’t merely a stat-stuffing situation as true freshman made a number of impressive plays. Concepcion showed the ability to separate at all levels. He came down with a touchdown in the red zone out of the slot, made a phenomenal diving catch over the middle and scored his second touchdown on a sensational long catch and run.”

Power also noted that Concepcion is one of three freshmen nationally to rack up 100 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in a game this season.
