The Wolfpacker’s Tuesday morning newsstand

The ACC released its preseason men’s basketball preseason awards Tuesday evening, disclosing the media vote that predicts the order of finish in the league and names two all-conference squads. NC State slotted into the ranking at No. 10— in-between Wake Forest and Clemson.

After finishing last in the ACC during the 2021-2022 season, the media expect the Wolfpack to improve this year after retooling its roster. Terquavion Smith is back for his sophomore season with NC State, and he received All-ACC preseason first-team honors and 1 vote for ACC Player of the Year.

NC State women’s basketball is the preseason No. 10 team in the country according to the Associated Press. This is the third-consecutive year the Wolfpack has been voted into the top-10 before the season.

Top Wolfpack recruiting target and four-star senior Dennis Parker plans on announcing his commitment Wednesday, Oct. 26. He will choose between NC State, Georgetown and Oklahoma State.

Wolfpack kicker Christopher Dunn is still perfect on field goals this year and received mid-season All-American honors from the Associated Press, CBS Sports and The Athletic.

The Wolfpack women’s cross country is the top-ranked team in the nation.

Former NC State star and All-ACC guard Dereon Seabron is officially a member of the New Orleans Pelicans’ opening-day roster. He is one of six previous members of the Pack to make an NBA roster.
