NC State football got back into the win column against Marshall, winning a high-scoring showdown that included a season-high 48 points for the Wolfpack and moving to 4-2 on the year. As a result, On3 moved the program up one spot to No. 8 in its weekly ACC Power Rankings.
The conference remains strong at the top this year. On3 ranked Florida State, North Carolina and Louisville as the ACC’s top 3 teams right now. Those programs have a combined record of 16-0 this fall. NC State has 2 losses already this fall, but it has the opportunity to pick up some critical wins over the next couple of months.
Starting with a matchup with Duke (No. 4) this weekend, the Pack plays 5 of the 7 teams ranked ahead of it this season.
Here’s On3’s explanation for why the Wolfpack is ranked at No. 8.
“New NC State starting quarterback MJ Morris got off to a rough start. Morris threw a pair of interceptions in the first quarter, including a pick-six, as Marshall built an early lead against the Wolfpack.
“Morris ended up throwing three interceptions overall. However, he also tossed four touchdown passes to help NC State hand Marshall its first loss of the season. The Wolfpack have a tough challenge this week playing at rival Duke.”
