TheWolfpacker.com’s Thursday Morning Newsstand

NC State picked up the third commitment of its 2024 recruiting class Wednesday evening when three-star defensive back Asaad Brown II announced his commitment to the Wolfpack, leading to a climb in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. He joins a pair of fellow out-of-state commits who will continue working to build upon this early recruiting success by the program.

After last year’s first three commits all came from in-state schools, this year’s class spans half of the east coast. Three-star quarterback Cedrick Bailey Jr. is from Florida, three-star linebacker Cannon Lewis is from West Virginia and Brown is from Virginia.

The On3 Industry Ranking considers Brown the No. 14 prospect in Virginia, the No. 654 recruit nationally and the No. 58 cornerback. Following his commitment, NC State’s 2024 recruiting class jumped up to No. 33 in the country.

The ACC is already putting together an impressive recruiting cycle and has 6 programs in the top nation’s 30. NC State sits directly behind Duke and three spots back from Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons and Blue Devils have 9 and 6 commits respectively, while the Wolfpack holds a higher average commit rating than both programs.

Pittsburgh, UNC and Georgia Tech are all in the top 25, while Clemson sits at No. 11 and Florida State leads the conference at No. 6.

Tweets of the day

Brown announced his decision Wednesday via Twitter.

Could the defensive back’s commitment lead to a recruiting surge for NC State?

Wolfpack women’s basketball signees Mallory Collier, Laci Steele and Maddison Cox will all play in the Who’s Next All-American game March 31.

Pack football continues to put in the work during spring practice.

Quote of the day

This quote is from Brown sharing how the Wolfpack stood out in his recruitment.

“NC State has been consistent,” Brown said. “They never wavered. I’ve had programs be in the picture, then they go ghost, then they come back in the picture. [NC State] never wavered.”

“That really set them apart from a lot of people.”
