NC State football is 3-1 with wins over 2 FBS teams that hold a combined record of 0-8. The Wolfpack won each of those matchups by 10 points or fewer.
For that reason, On3’s ACC Power Rankings are still skeptical of NC State despite the solid record, slotting the program at No. 8. That is a one-spot rise from the previous week.
“NC State wasn’t sharp at all against winless Virginia on Friday, but an ugly win is still better than a well-played loss,” On3 Wrote. “Wolfpack kicker Brayden Narveson nailed a field goal as time expired to move NC State to 3-1 on the year.
“Still, NC State needed costly penalties by Virginia to escape with a last-second win as a favorite. Brennan Armstrong and the Wolfpack need to play much better moving forward if NC State is going to move up the ACC Power Rankings.”
The Wolfpack host Louisville, the No. 5 team in On3’s power rankings, Friday night. After defeating Boston College last week, the Cardinals are 4-0, undefeated in the ACC and threatening to establish themselves as a conference title contender. NC State has an opportunity to pull off the upset as the home underdog this week.

NC State quote of the day
This quote is from Rakeim Ashford, who is back on the field after recovering from an injury against UConn.
“It’s always exciting to be back out there on the field,” Ashford said. “Injuries, I don’t wish that on nobody. I’m blessed to be back out there on the field with my brothers instead of being on the sidelines.”
