Although former NC State offensive lineman Joe Thuney will have to miss this weekend’s Pro Bowl Games since he’s playing in the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, that doesn’t mean the Wolfpack won’t have a representative in the event in Orlando, Fla.

Former Pack quarterback Russell Wilson was named to the annual postseason all-star game Tuesday as he will replace Buffalo Bills signal-caller Josh Allen, who opted out of the event due to injury. This will mark Wilson’s 10th Pro Bowl appearance, which is the fifth-most of any quarterback in NFL history.

Wilson made 11 starts for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2024 season after he was held off the field to start the campaign due to a calf injury he suffered in training camp practices. He was able to be efficient with a 63.7 percent completion rate that allowed the quarterback to throw for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions.

The Richmond, Va., native helped lead the Steelers to the playoffs, where they lost in the Wild Card round to the Baltimore Ravens.

Wilson will be in action in the Pro Bowl Games, which are a two-day event at Camping World Stadium, the same venue NC State played in the Pop-Tarts Bowl at the conclusion of the 2023 season. There will be a skills challenge on Thursday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN, while a flag football game is set for Sunday at 3 p.m. on ABC and ESPN.

Quote of the day

West Charlotte (N.C.) three-star athlete Ki’Anthony “KD” Cotton has built a bond with co-defensive coordinator Charlton Warren during his recruitment.

“He’s just a really good guy when it comes to the aspect of making sure he’s actually building a relationship with you,” Cotton said of Warren. “He’s not only selling the school, but he’s selling himself as a person, as a coach, as a mentor to some of the people he’s offering. And he’s also a military man, his résumé can really show how good of a person he is.”
