Former NC State guard Terquavion Smith is almost at the end of his pre-draft process. The electric Wolfpack star is nearly a lock to be selected this week, and the most recent ESPN Mock Draft projects him to land with the San Antonio Spurs with the No. 44 overall selection.

Smith would be the first member of the Pack to be drafted since Dennis Smith Jr. in 2017. The Dallas Mavericks selected him in the first round No. 9 overall.

Earlier this year, Smith declared for the NBA Draft in an interview with ESPN’s Jonathan Givony

“I’m forgoing my college eligibility and going all the way in,” Smith said to Givony. “I’m thankful for everything the NC State coaching staff and fans have done for me. This is the right decision for me to take care of my family.”

The 6-4 guard racked up 17.9 points, 4.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game during his sophomore season, earning All-ACC second team honors. Smith started 59 of 66 career games in Raleigh, and he knocked down 35.2 percent of his threes during that time.

Only two ACC athletes are projected before the former NC State star— Dereck Lively II and Dariq Whitehead from Duke. The NBA Draft begins Thursday, June 22, at 8 p.m. EST.

This quote is from Wolfpack director of recruiting operations Nicole Walton discussing how important the program’s brand is to official visits.
