The junior won his medal at the 86 kg weight class and lost to Tatsuya Shirai of Japan in the finals after a late comeback by the Wolfpack star fell short with the score tied at 3. Hidlay is a three-time All-American with two ACC titles as well in 2021 and 2022, per NC State.

Quote of the day

This quote is from On3’s Matt Carter reflecting on the home stretch of the season for Wolfpack football.

NC State should beat Boston College and Virginia Tech. On paper, UNC is a tough matchup, but the schedule may skew some of that perception. Louisville is another tough one to fairly figure out because they have the type of quarterback that would give the Pack’s defense problems in Malik Cunningham.

“Wake Forest is the one that other than being in Raleigh there is not a lot to like about the matchup.

“So the tally: two games that should be won, two games that will be a challenge and one where NC State is a sure underdog.”
