NC State Newsstand: Tyler Baker-Williams declares for draft

After spending five seasons developing into one of the best nickels in the ACC, Tyler Baker-Williams officially declared for the NFL Draft Wednesday. The NC State all-conference defensive back returned to Raleigh this fall for his final season of eligibility.
Baker-Williams missed half of the 2022 season due to injury but still recorded 17 total tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. He also received All-ACC honorable mention honors this year and after the 2021 season. It is unknown whether or not he will play in the Duke’s Mayo scheduled for Dec. 30 at 12 p.m. EST.
After the 2020 and 2021 seasons, he won NC State’s DeWayne Washington Award, which recognized Baker-Williams as the team’s best defensive back.
Baker-Williams announced his decision on Twitter
“First I would like to thank God for all the gifts and abilities that he has blessed me with to get to this point,” Baker-Williams wrote. “This journey to get here has been nothing but easy but perseverance and family is what got me through. Being born and raised in Raleigh, playing in front of all of my family & friends watching and supporting me means the world the me. I appreciate my coaches, athletic training staff and academic staff for constantly pushing me and allowing me to grow into the person and a player I am today.
