The Wolfpacker’s Thursday morning newsstand

NC State’s top-25 win over Wake Forest led to a six-spot jump in the College Football Playoff rankings and a renewed level of hype surrounding the program. That was reflected in this week’s bowl projections made by CBS Sports, ESPN and The Athletic.

After winning consecutive games at home against Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, two of these publications have NC State set to remain in-state and play in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte Dec. 30. The Athletic and CBS Sports both project the Wolfpack to face former conference rival Maryland in the contest.

Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach each made predictions for NC State to land at separate bowls. Schlabach predicts the program will play in the Pinstripe Bowl in Yankee Stadium against Purdue, while Bonagura has the Pack set to take part in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida, against Kentucky.

Tweets of the day

NC State women’s basketball signed three four-star recruits and one five-star prospect Wednesday. This is the highest-ranked recruiting class in Wolfpack history.

Carter-Finley Stadium is sold out once again this week for NC State’s senior day matchup with Boston College. Head coach Dave Doeren asked fans earlier this week to get to the stadium a little early for the senior day ceremony. The Wolfpack could set a new program record for consecutive home wins if it can defeat Boston College.

Quote of the day

This quote is from Wolfpack offensive coordinator Tim Beck discussing this Saturday’s senior day.

“It’s always an emotional game.”

“I just want nothing but the best for them,” Tim Beck said of the players walking on Senior Day. “My goal right now is to give the best plan that we can to coach our guys up.

“They’ve played a lot of football, and they’ve bled and really developed this culture in this program and followed the direction of Coach [Dave Doeren]. They’ve established this program and where it is.
