After surging to its first ACC sweep of the season at Cal, NC State baseball was rewarded by re-entering D1Baseball’s Top 25 poll. The Pack checked in at No. 25 in Monday’s ranking announcement.

The Wolfpack took care of business in its first trip to Berkeley, Calif., in program history. NC State blitzed Cal 9-0 in the opener on Thursday before it came from behind to win 7-6 on Friday and it followed that performance with a 5-2 victory in the series finale.

NC State has now won five of its first six league weekend series with victories over Cal, then-No. 14 Louisville, Pitt, Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Pack has won eight of its last nine games to make its move through the rankings.

This week marks the first time NC State has been ranked in the NCAA’s most-recognized poll since Week 1 when it was No. 12. It dropped out of the rankings as the Pack went on a five-game losing streak in February. And as the Wolfpack found a way back inside the top media poll, its RPI has rebounded from a low of No. 233 to No. 33 as of Monday morning.

Now, the Pack is back on track to push for an NCAA Regional hosting bid. It still has work to do, but this week presents another opportunity to continue building its resume. NC State will host East Carolina on Tuesday night before No. 2 Clemson visits Doak Field for a three-game series starting on Thursday.

In addition to the second-ranked Tigers, No. 4 Florida State, No. 8 UNC, No. 19 Louisville and No. 24 Georgia Tech round out the ACC squads in this week’s rankings.
