NC State football improved its record to 3-1 with a 24-21 win over Virginia last week, starting its ACC schedule with a victory. Now, the Wolfpack needs three more wins before becoming bowl eligible for the fourth-consecutive season.

A variety of news outlets are continuing to shape and refine their postseason projections now that the regular season is 33-percent complete. Here are a few bowl predictions for NC State.

ESPN’s Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura each shared their projections Sunday. Bonagura put the Pack in the Fenway Bowl, played in Boston, Massachusetts, for a showdown with future ACC foe SMU. Schlabach sees the program playing against Rutgers in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl, which would be played New York City. Both games would take place on Dec. 28.

USA Today’s Erick Smith predicted the Wolfpack will play in the Dec. 29 Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. NC State would face off against Oregon State in that game.

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm shared a similar projection. He believes the Pack will play in the Sun Bowl against UCLA.

To round out the list, Action Network’s Brett McMurphy shared his take. He predicted the Wolfpack will match up with Iowa in the Pinstripe Bowl and also made the Hawkeyes 6.5-point favorites in that showdown.

NC State quote of the day

This quote is from Dave Doeren, discussing the Pack headed into week 5 of the 2023 season.

“We’re sitting here at 3-1 and I’m excited about it,” Doeren said. “The attitude and the effort and the individual improvements within the roster have been noticeable, and those things excite me quite a bit. And that’s what you want, you want to get better each week individually so you can get better collectively.”
