NC State coach Will Wade has worked hard to finish building the 2025-26 roster. One of his final pieces to the puzzle was North Carolina transfer forward Ven-Allen Lubin, who committed to the Wolfpack on Sunday afternoon.

Now, he is officially a part of the Pack after signing on Monday.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Ven-Allen to our program,” Wade said in a statement. “Physically, he stands out with a wingspan over seven feet and a strong, powerful frame. Offensively, he creates mismatches—he can score over smaller defenders in the post and has the quickness to drive past bigger ones.

“He also showed the ability while at Vanderbilt to step out and be a weapon from three-point range and we’ll look to build off of that. He’s an incredibly efficient scorer, having led his team in field goal percentage each of his first three college seasons. Beyond that, he has a high basketball IQ and will be a tremendous presence in our locker room.”

Lubin is believed to be the first known men’s basketball player to transfer directly from UNC to NC State. He joins Bernie MockFred SwartzbergBones McKinney, and most recently, Dontrez Styles, as those that have donned both Carolina blue and Wolfpack red on the basketball court during their collegiate careers.

The 6-foot-8, 230-pound post player averaged 8.7 points with 5.5 rebounds on 68.4 percent shooting last season with the Tar Heels. He finished the 2024-25 season on a high note with 11 straight double-figure scoring efforts, including 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting (to go with 10 rebounds) in a 3-point loss to Duke in the ACC Tournament semifinals

Before his tenure at UNC, the No. 65 player in the Class of 2022, spent one season at Notre Dame and one year at Vanderbilt.

Lubin is expected to battle incoming Congolese freshman Paul Mbiya for the Wolfpack’s starting center spot.

NC State is also involved with Montverde (Fla.) Academy point guard King Gibson, the No. 4 player in the 2027 recruiting class. Here’s what he told On3’s Jamie Shaw about the Wolfpack.

“We’ve been in contact some with Coach (Will) Wade already,” Gibson said. “So, I want to go on that visit, get down there and talk to him some, and see what he has to offer. He tells me that he thinks I could be really good if I keep working. That’s good to hear coming from a coach like him.”
