Kelsey Chmiel, a star distance runner for the NC State women’s cross country and track and field teams, received a nomination for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award Tuesday.

Per the GoPack.com press release, this honor is meant to recognize ” a graduated female student-athlete who has distinguished herself throughout her collegiate career in the areas of academics, athletics, service and leadership.”

This is the second year in a row that the Wolfpack has a nominee for the award, following women’s tennis star Jaeda Daniel in 2022. Daniel made it to the finalist round for the accolade.

Chmiel is one of the program’s most accomplished distance runners and, per the press release, has been an All-American nine times, won a pair of cross country team national championships and collected three individual ACC titles. She is also a four-time All-ACC academic team honoree.

As she heads into her graduate year with the Pack, Chmiel will be considered for the award along with Miami track and field athlete Lauryn Harris— the conferences’s second nominee.
