NC State wrestling had a stellar year on the mat, which included its sixth straight ACC Tournament Championship, but its record-setting numbers did not end there.

The Wolfpack set a single-season record for the highest average attendance in program history with 4,304 fans per home match this past season across just five home dates, according to the National Wrestling Media Association. NC State had three sold-out duals against Oklahoma State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech inside Reynolds Coliseum.

NC State’s previous high for a single-season attendance average was just over 2,300 from the 2022-23 season.

The Wolfpack’s average attendance led the ACC and it finished sixth nationally. Virginia Tech was the next closest ACC program with 2,254 fans per match across seven home dates.

Iowa led the country with 14,847 fans per match, while Penn State was second (7,337), Iowa State was third (6,691), Oklahoma State was fourth (5,871) and Oregon State was fifth (5,240).

Quote of the day

Pack football brought in a plethora of transfers this season. Wolfpack Director of Strength and Conditioning Dantonio Burnette thought they have fit in well so far.

“We did a really good job of bringing in the right guys into our program,” Burnette said. “All of those guys, of course, filled the needs that we have, but they also fit our culture. They fit in, they’re hard-working guys, they listen. Sometimes you’re rolling the dice when you bring in transfers, you just never know what you’re going to get, but we haven’t had any guys that we brought in in this class where it’s like ‘Woah, we may need to reevaluate that.’”
