NC State coach Will Wade’s first staff addition is official. Former Nebraska assistant Adam Howard was named to the Pack’s coaching staff on Monday morning.

“Adam is a great coach with a proven record of building programs, Wade said. “He’s everything you want in an assistant coach with his ability to recruit, game plan and develop players. He has an excellent tactical offensive mind and will do a great job on that side of the court for our team. I’m excited to have him in Raleigh and welcome him, his wife Renee and their three children to the Wolfpack family.”

Howard spent the last three seasons with the Cornhuskers. The offensive-minded assistant was key in Nebraska’s offensive growth during his tenure in Lincoln, Neb., as they averaged 77.7 points per game in 2023-24, the highest average in program history since the 1995-96 season. He also helped develop All-Big Ten standouts Derrick Walker and Keisei Tominaga during his time at Nebraska.

Before his three seasons with the Cornhuskers, Howard spent four years as an assistant at South Alabama, where he worked his way to associate head coach. In his four seasons with the Jaguars, Howard helped South Alabama to a 75-51 record, including a pair of 20-win campaigns. He engineered the Jaguars’ defense during his tenure in Mobile, which included two top-50 ranked units in his last two seasons.

Prior to his time at South Alabama, Howard was on staff at Troy for two seasons, while he has also been on staff at Tennessee (2014), Southern Miss (2012-14) and Morehead State (2010-12) as a full-time assistant.

Howard played four seasons at Western Kentucky, including a run to the Sweet 16 in 2008.
