After NC State graduate quarterback Brennan Armstrong plunged his way into the end zone at Wake Forest, he got up to celebrate in the end zone. As his father, Brent, watched from the stands, he saw the old Brennan was back. The signal-caller was having fun again. “You could tell when he gets up, the guys pick him up off the ground after he scored that touchdown, you see that smile on his face — you know he’s having fun,” Brent Armstrong told TheWolfpacker.com earlier this week. “It’s always nice for a parent to see your son out there smiling, to know he’s out there having fun with the guys.” That smile was missing from the field for several weeks this season, if not the entire year up until that point. Armstrong was the Wolfpack’s starter through the first five weeks until he was benched for sophomore MJ Morris. after he spent four games on the bench, Armstrong was inserted back as the red and white’s starter for the final three regular season contests. That afternoon at Wake Forest was the first time Armstrong had thrown a touchdown pass in 50 weeks as he played loose on the field. Following that game, Armstrong broke his performance down just as easy as he made it look on the field. His joy for the game was back.
