NC State QB Grayson McCall expected to return vs. Wake Forest
NC State graduate quarterback Grayson McCall is expected to start vs. Wake Forest, TheWolfpacker.com and On3’s Pete Nakos learned Friday morning. The former Coastal Carolina signal-caller has not played since the first half of the Louisiana Tech game, leaving the contest with an undisclosed injury.
CJ Bailey started the past 2 games and, if he saw the field against Wake Forest, the freshman would have burned his redshirt. McCall was a game time decision coming into this game and is in full uniform for pregame warmups. Per Nakos, his goal was to start today.
McCall, an Indian Trail, N.C., native, was 50-of-75 passing for 476 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions through the first three games of the season. He also added 18 carries for 44 yards as a running threat.
Before he arrived in Raleigh, McCall threw for 10,005 yards with 88 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions during his five-year career at Coastal Carolina. During his time with the Chanticleers, McCall was a three-time Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, the first to ever do that in league history.

McCall impressed the Wolfpack coaching staff and its players with his accuracy on the practice field during fall camp, taking care of the football with ease. He was estimated to have thrown no more than two interceptions during the entire month by those who have seen him on the training ground. This is McCall’s final year of eligibility.
Bailey has played in 4 games so far this season as a true freshman, passing for 469 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He added 2 more scores on the ground.
