After losing its week 7 matchup against Syracuse, NC State spent its bye week preparing to bounce back against Virginia Tech. The Wolfpack’s spot in both polls remained relatively unchanged after the week off, slotting in at No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 4 in the Associated press poll.
NC State started the week at No. 23 in both polls. In the coaches rankings, LSU climbed past the Wolfpack, but Texas fell out of the poll. Tulane leapt past NC State in the AP Poll, leading to the one-spot drop.
