Terquavion Smith put together an All-ACC Honorable Mention freshman year last season with NC State and, after withdrawing from the NBA Draft, is continuing to rack up the accolades. The ACC announced its preseason awards Tuesday evening and selected the sophomore guard to its preseason all-conference first team.

Smith excelled throughout the pre-draft process in the spring, backing up the talent he showed throughout an accolade-filled freshman season that included a spot on the conference’s All-ACC Freshman team, but he still opted to return to Raleigh for a second season.

He was one of the best players in the ACC last season, averaging 16.3 points per game, grabbing 4.1 rebounds per game and hitting 96 three pointers— the most a freshman has ever hit in program history. Caleb Love and Armando Bacot from North Carolina, Isaiah Wong from Miami and Jeremy Roach from Duke all joined Smith on the first team.

North Carolina is the nearly-unanimous pick to finish at the top of the league, receiving 90 of 101 votes, and fellow in-state rival Duke finished No. 2 in the projected order of finish.
