NC State climbs into transfer portal top 20 with Potter's commitment
NC State secured its fourth transfer portal commitment of the December window Thursday afternoon when former Cincinnati defensive lineman Noah Potter announced his decision to join the Wolfpack. He is a former four-star recruit, and his pledge helped the program climb to No. 16 in On3 Transfer Portal Team Rankings.
On3’s Transfer Portal Ranking takes into account both the prospects arriving and leaving each program. A total of 5 NC State athletes have entered the portal so far, including quarterback Devin Leary, the No. 5 transfer according to the player rankings, and defensive tackle Joshua Harris. Both of them have already committed to SEC programs.
Wide receivers Devin Carter and Jasiah Provillon, along with defensive back Joshua Pierre-Louis, have also entered the portal.
NC State holds commitments from Clemson receiver Dacari Collins, Oregon offensive lineman Dawson Jaramillo, Old Dominion safety Robert Kennedy and now Potter, who’s announcement boosted the Pack 7 spots in the ranking.
The Wolfpack’s transfer portal class ranks No. 5 in the ACC, with Florida State, Duke, Georgia Tech and Boston College all in the top-15 right now.
Potter will arrive at NC State after signing with Ohio State out of high school and transferring to Cincinatti. He finished the 2022 season with 17 tackles, 3 for loss, and 1.5 sacks with the Bearcats.
Collins committed to the Pack one week after his official visit to Raleigh. The former four-star wide receiver caught 17 passes for 229 yards over 2 seasons with Clemson. Kennedy quickly joined the transfer class this week after wrapping up his trip to NC State. At Old Dominion this fall, he made 52 total tackles and recorded an interception.

The defensive back discussed the Wolfpack and nickels coach Freddie Aughtry-Lindsay after the visit.
“As a coach, he’s real detailed, and I feel like me, as a player, is real detailed,” Kennedy said. “The potential of both of us teaming up, I feel like that would be a real bright thing that would happen, so that’s a big thing”
“The relationship he has with his players, during practice, the best dudes weren’t playing, so you would think that he would take a little bit off or something, but you can tell that he was 100% invested in kids who don’t even really play, so that was something real crazy for me to see.”
Jaramillo, who played every position on the offensive line but center at Oregon, will move across the country to join the Pack, and his recent official visit made him comfortable with doing so.
“I just really liked how important football is down there,” Jaramillo said. “With the Research Triangle, they were telling me that NC State’s the football school and how bought-in the fans are and how every game is sold out. I really enjoyed the people there.”
NC State could add another recruit with power-five experience out of the transfer portal, as the program remains involved in Ole Miss cornerback Miles Battle’s recruitment. He visited NC State last weekend.
