Football season is back. NC State returns to Carter-Finley Stadium to kick off the 2024 season against Western Carolina on Thursday night.

The Wolfpack is coming off a 9-3 regular season that culminated in a Pop-Tarts Bowl appearance last fall. The Catamounts, meanwhile, went 7-4 a year ago. Western Carolina enters the game as the No. 19 team in the FCS Coaches Poll.

What time does the game start?

NC State vs. Western Carolina begins at 7 p.m. ET.

– NC State and Western Carolina have matched up seven times previously, and the Pack is 7-0 in those contests. This is the Pack’s fifth season opener against the Catamounts in program history. NC State is averaging 47 points per game against Western Carolina with just 9.1 points for the Catamounts in the meetings. 

– NC State is one of just five programs in the Power Four that has won eight or more games in the last four seasons going into the 2024 schedule. The Pack won nine games a year ago and is looking for its first 10-win campaign since 2002.

– Graduate quarterback Grayson McCall has thrown for 10,005 yards with 88 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions in his collegiate career at Coastal Carolina. He is on five preseason watch lists, including the Comeback Player of the Year, Davey O’Brien, Maxwell, Unitas Golden Arm and the Walter Camp Player of the Year Awards.
