NC State women's basketball lands commitment from UConn transfer Qadence Samuels

Although the transfer portal has been tough sledding for NC State women’s basketball this offseason with at least three targets visiting before committing elsewhere, the Wolfpack is finally on the board.
UConn transfer guard Qadence Samuels signed with the Pack on Friday, the program announced. She averaged 3.2 points with 1.8 rebounds in her first two years of college basketball. Samuels has two years of eligibility remaining
“We’re excited to add Qadence to the Pack,” Wolfpack coach Wes Moore said in a statement. “She is someone we followed and recruited throughout her high school career. Offensively, she has the ability to score at all 3-levels. Her length and athleticism makes her a playmaker on the defensive end and a factor on the boards. I know our fans will enjoy her energy as well.”
Samuels, who was ranked the No. 41 recruit in the 2023 cycle by ESPN, brings 69 games of collegiate experience to Raleigh. She scored in double figures five times over that stretch, including 14 points with four 3-pointers in the Huskies’ trip to Reynolds Coliseum during the 2023-24 campaign.

The Forestville, Md., native appeared in 33 games this past season, including two minutes in UConn’s 82-59 win over South Carolina to claim this past season’s national championship.
Samuels helps bolster NC State’s roster going into the 2025-26 season. The Wolfpack now has 10 scholarship players after its 17th trip to the Sweet 16 this year. Moore’s club, which will likely run through standout backcourt duo Zoe Brooks and Zamareya Jones, needed experienced guard depth and the UConn transfer checked that box.
