NC State women's basketball signs NIL deal dedicated to cancer research

NC State’s women’s basketball athletes recently agreed to a team-wide Name, Image and Likeness deal through the Pack of Wolves collective, involving the program in the NIL space for a good cause. The Wolfpack agreed to a deal that will involve a partnership with the V Foundation for Cancer Research during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Throughout October, NC State will engage in a friendly competition. Each athlete will hold their own separate fundraiser for the Clea Shearer Breast Cancer Research Fund and try to raise more donations than the rest of the Pack. Fans have the option to choose which athlete they wish to donate too.
“The student athletes are all members of the NC State women’s basketball team,” Pack of Wolves wrote in a recent press release. “While unique to have an entire team of athletes sign on to a name, image and likeness (NIL) agreement, it’s a cause the team is passionate about.”
Pack of Wolves has been instrumental in helping NC State’s athletes get involved in NIL opportunities, and this is the second time the collective has signed an entire team to a deal. Earlier this fall, the organization hosted Meet the Pack day, an NIL opportunity for all scholarship and walk-on members of NC State’s football program.
The press release said the money fundraised via this partnership will be dedicated to “generating awareness, advocating for early, accessible screening and raising funds to support critical breast cancer research.”
This cause is something the Wolfpack roster cares deeply about, and NC State guard Saniya Rivers and other members of the team shared why they are excited to participate in the fundraiser.

“This is a really big deal for me,” Rivers told Pack of Wolves. “Unfortunately, I know a lot of people, both family and friends, that have been affected by cancer, and it breaks my heart. Cancer is AWFUL! Being a part of this campaign gives me the opportunity to educate others on cancer and research and how they can help, and I’m learning a lot too.
“I know that 1 in every 8 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Cancer doesn’t discriminate, which is why I feel it’s so important for everyone to be aware and support this campaign!”
NC State guard Madison Hayes also stressed the importance of breast cancer awareness and research.
“I recently learned that breast cancer will account for 7% of all cancer deaths in 2022,” Hayes said. “That’s a staggering statistic – I just had to sign up to help with the campaign! I think it’s important to talk about these types of issues that predominantly affect women. We’re a powerful team on the court, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do off the court in the fight against breast cancer!’
