(Jaylynn Nash-USA TODAY Sports) Aug 29, 2024; Raleigh, North Carolina, USA; North Carolina State Wolfpack wide receiver Dacari Collins (4) holds the football during the first half of the game against Western Carolina Catamounts at Carter-Finley Stadium.

NC State’s spring transfer portal departures are starting to trickle out. First it was junior running back Kendrick Raphael. Now, it’s senior wide receiver Dacari Collins that plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Wednesday, On3 has confirmed. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Collins, a former Clemson transfer, spent the last two seasons with the Wolfpack. He hauled in 38 passes for 526 yards and four touchdowns across 19 games at NC State.

The Atlanta native worked his way into the Wolfpack’s receiver rotation during the 2023 campaign, which allowed him to have an increased role in the team’s final four games. He caught at least two passes in each of those contests, including 46 yards with a touchdown in the regular season finale win over UNC.

Collins was then able to use that as momentum going into the 2024 season as one of the Wolfpack’s starting outside receivers. He caught 24 passes for 314 yards with two touchdowns, but only eclipsed 50 receiving yards twice — three receptions for 55 yards against Louisiana Tech on Sept. 14 and three receptions for 62 yards at UNC on Nov. 30.

The 6-foot-4, 212-pound wideout seemed to be competing to hold his starting spot this past spring. But with his departure, it appears NC State will be looking elsewhere to fill that starting role on the outside. Former Wake Forest transfer Wesley Grimes is a likely candidate, while sophomores Keenan Jackson and Terrell Anderson are also options for the Wolfpack coaching staff to look at in the position room.
