NC State graduate wide receiver Jakolbe Baldwin will enter the transfer portal, he announced via social media Wednesday morning. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

The route runner is the Pack’s eighth scholarship player to depart through the portal this week, joining the likes of sophomore graduate offensive lineman Sean Hill, wide receiver Kevin Concepcion and sophomore tight end Juice Vereen among others.

Baldwin turned in three career receptions for 11 yards in his 17 games on the field with the Wolfpack. He had one catch for a loss of one yard this season.

The 6-foot, 192-pound wideout, who spent the last four seasons at NC State, logged a career-best 258 total snaps this season, including 52 on offense. He was primarily featured on kick coverage and return, and punt coverage and return this fall.

Baldwin was a special teams standout during the 2023 season, which led to a position change for about half the season as a safety. He returned to the wide receiver room before the Wolfpack’s Pop-Tarts Bowl appearance and remained there for the entire 2024 campaign.

Although his offensive snaps were limited, Baldwin logged an eight-yard catch against Charleston Southern in 2022. He had a career-best 17 plays on offense in NC State’s Week 6 loss to Wake Forest this fall — 10 run-blocking opportunities and seven pass snaps.

Before Baldwin began his collegiate career, he caught 69 passes for 1,235 yards and 16 touchdowns in two seasons at Rockingham (N.C.) Richmond High. The three-star recruit did not have a senior season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
