NC State WR Kevin Concepcion plans to enter transfer portal
NC State sophomore wide receiver Kevin Concepcion is set to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Dec. 8, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
The 2023 ACC Rookie of the Year logged 53 receptions for 460 yards and six touchdowns in his second season with the Wolfpack. Concepcion is the first NC State player to intend to enter the transfer portal this offseason.
Concepcion, who emerged as an all-around playmaker last fall, struggled to find a groove this season. Teams were able to scheme against his skill set, oftentimes double teaming him as a wide receiver and sniffing out any rushing attempts the Wolfpack drew up for him.
The Charlotte, N.C., native had a season-best nine receptions for 121 yards and three touchdowns in the Wolfpack’s season-opening win over Western Carolina, but he was not able to record more than 53 receiving yards in any game over the final 11 contests.
Concepcion logged his final touchdown catch in the Wolfpack’s 35-30 win over UNC on Saturday evening. He caught three passes for 44 yards and a 13-yard score in the win over the rival Tar Heels, which marked his first touchdown in three weeks.

Concepcion’s 2024 season followed up an eye-opening freshman campaign that featured 64 catches for 767 yards and 10 touchdowns, while he added another 297 yards on the ground through 38 rushing attempts.
After Concepcion set the NC State true freshman record for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns for his dominant play in the 2023 campaign, he was named a freshman All-American by the Football Writers of America, The Athletic, Pro Football Focus and On3.
Concepcion’s younger brother, Arrion, was a longtime wide receiver commit for the Wolfpack, but he decommitted on Nov. 17. He committed to Kansas State after taking an official visit with the Wildcats on Nov. 25.
NC State finished 6-6 with a 3-5 mark in ACC play this fall. The Wolfpack is awaiting its bowl assignment, which it will find out next Sunday, one day before the transfer portal officially opens.
