NC State wrestling is looking to win a ring for the thumb. Over the past four years, the Wolfpack has taken the ACC Wrestling Championship. A fifth straight would be a school record, and if NC State is to make program history, what better place for the Pack to do so than historic Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh.

On Sunday, NC State will host the annual ACC Wrestling Championship and will be one of the favorites for the title. The top competition will come from Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh. Over the past nine years, the Hokies are the only other wrestling program besides NC State to claim a league title. Pitt however boasts some of the top contenders in several weight classes.

The three teams shared the ACC regular season title. Pitt scored an impressive dual win over Virginia Tech, but the Panthers were unable to duplicate the success in Raleigh with the title effectively on the line. The Hokies defeated NC State in a hotly contested dual in Blacksburg, Va., to start ACC dual action.

To help preview this year’s ACC Wrestling Championship, The Wolfpacker Show hosts Stu Coman and Brian Reinhardt had a special guest — NC State wrestling star Jakob Camacho.

Camacho won the ACC title at 125 pounds in 2020 and 2022 and is a three-time NCAA qualifier. In 2020, Camacho was named the ACC Championship Most Outstanding Wrestler and was awarded second-team All-American status following the cancelation of the NCAA Championship due to the pandemic.

The redshirt junior entered this season runner-up in the 2022 World Team Trials at 57 kg and also placed third at the 2022 U.S. Open at the same weight. However, a knee injury would knock Camacho out for the year.

Camacho discussed his rehab process and what it has been like watching his teammates in action this season. He admits watching the ACC Championship Sunday may be difficult, but he has family support to help him through it.

Camacho, who should still have two seasons of eligibility left starting next year, helps Coman and Reinhardt preview the upcoming ACC Championship as well, and highlights some of the significant weight classes to watch.

Camacho also shared who to watch for down the road for NC State wrestling that Pack fans have not seen a lot of yet.
