NC State graduate guard DJ Horne had not recorded back-to-back 20-point games in his career until he arrived in Raleigh. He did it in mid-January before he logged another set of those performances this past week.

The 6-foot-1 guard was named the ACC Co-Player of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office after he averaged 25.0 points a game last week. He shared the award with North Carolina’s Harrison Ingram, who averaged 14.5 points and 13.0 rebounds in the last two contests.

Horne is the first NC State player to win the main weekly award this season from the ACC. Louisville guard Ty-Laur Johnson was named ACC Rookie of the Week, an honor Dennis Parker Jr. won in late-November.

A Cary, N.C., native, Horne scored 24 points in the Wolfpack’s 74-68 win over Miami on Tuesday night before he dropped 26 points in NC State’s 82-76 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday evening. He made three three-pointers in the victory over the Hurricanes before he poured in four more against the Yellow Jackets.

The Arizona State transfer did not record a turnover in 71 minutes of action this past week. He scored 32 of his 50 points in the second half to help the Wolfpack push past both the Hurricanes and the Yellow Jackets.

Horne logged his first pair of two straight 20-point efforts in the Pack’s wins over Louisville and Wake Forest last month. He scored a season-best 27 points at Louisville before he followed it up with 21 points in the team’s victory over Wake Forest.

He has scored more than 20 points in seven of the Wolfpack’s 22 games this season. It is the most amount of 20-plus point efforts that he has logged in a single season of his career. He recorded four 20-plus points games last season with the Sun Devils.

Horne is averaging a career-best 15.7 points a night this season on 31.9% shooting from the field. He has a 41.6% clip from beyond the arc and he has dished 2.6 assists a night this season. He previously averaged 12.5 points in two seasons at Arizona State and he logged a then-career-high 15.1 points a night in his second season at Illinois State.

A local product, Horne averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game as a junior at nearby Cary High School. He was a Triangle 6 All-Conference selection after that campaign on the hardwood.
