NC State junior forward Mohamed Diarra announced he was entering the NBA Draft, via a social media post on Wednesday afternoon.

“This last season at NC State with my teammates and coaches was incredible for me,” Diarra wrote. “It has been more than I could have imagined and I will always cherish my time with NC State and our run to an ACC Championship and Final Four. But my dream has always been to play in the NBA and now I’m going to turn my focus 100 percent to pursuing my professional career.”

“To my teammates at NC State, you guys are my brothers for life,” Diarra continued. “To my coaches, thank you for your guidance and belief in my abilities. And finally to the fans, thank you for all of your support this season. The support you all showed the last month of our season was amazing.”

Diarra appeared in 40 of the Wolfpack’s 41 games with 22 starts in a breakout year this past season.

The former Missouri transfer tapped into a part of his game not seen since he played at Garden City Community College two years ago. Diarra averaged 6.3 points with 7.8 rebounds a game for the Wolfpack, but in the postseason, he was on another level. The 6-foot-10 forward logged 9.0 points with 11.2 rebounds per contest as he fasted during Ramadan.

Diarra logged 14 games with double-digit rebound totals this season, including an 18-rebound game at Boston College on Dec. 2. He was crucial in the Wolfpack’s Final Four run with seven of his double-figure board games in a row, spanning from the ACC Tournament second round win over Syracuse (14) to the Sweet 16 win over Marquette (15).

NC State has two open scholarships for the 2024-25 season. The Wolfpack has already gained three transfer commitments for next season and has room for a two more.
