Preseason Pack Pros: Robert Kennedy III stars, records game-sealing interception

In his first consistent series of snaps this preseason, former NC State nickel Robert Kennedy III made his presence felt in the Los Angeles Chargers’ secondary. He logged a season-best seven total tackles, while the defensive back had an interception, a pass defended and a quarterback hit for the Chargers. 

While Kennedy impressed in his action, he was not the only Pack Pro finishing the preseason on a high note. Here is a look at how all of the Pack Pros did in their third and final week of preseason action.

Center Garrett Bradbury (played at NC State from 2015-18), #56 Minnesota Vikings: Bradbury did not play in the Vikings’ 26-3 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. 

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett (2014-15), #14 New England Patriots: Brissett started the Patriots’ 20-10 loss to the Washington Commanders, but he departed early with a shoulder injury. The signal-caller was 2-for-4 with 19 passing yards and was sacked once in his eight total snaps. 

Outside linebacker Bradley Chubb (2014-17), #2 Miami Dolphins: Chubb did not play in the Dolphins’ 24-14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Punter A.J. Cole III (2015-18), #6 Las Vegas Raiders: Cole logged six punts in the Raiders’ 24-24 tie with the San Francisco 49ers. He had 321 total yards, an average of 53.5 yards per attempt with two kicks inside the 20-yard line. Cole had a game-long 59 yarder in the defeat. 

Defensive tackle Cory Durden (2021-22), #98 Los Angeles Rams: Durden recorded two total tackles, both solos, with one for a loss in the Rams’ 17-15 loss to the Houston Texans. He played 57 total snaps in the loss.

Offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu (2019-21), #79 Carolina Panthers: Ekwonu played 12 total snaps in the Panthers’ 31-26 win over the Buffalo Bills. He earned a 61.9 offense grade from Pro Football Focus, which included an above-average 71.8 pass blocking score in the win.

Punter Trenton Gill (2018-21), #16 Denver Broncos: Gill logged two punts for 122 yards in the Broncos’ 38-12 win over the Arizona Cardinals. He’s in the midst of a punting battle against Riley Dixon, and Gill outkicked him in the preseason finale. Gill recorded one touchback and had a 73-yarder in the victory.

Wide receiver Kelvin Harmon (2016-18), #84 Dallas Cowboys: Harmon logged one catch for 14 yards in the Cowboys’ 26-19 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. He was targeted just one time in 29 total snaps.

Defensive lineman B.J. Hill Jr. (2014-17), #92 Cincinnati Bengals: Hill did not play in the Bengals’ 27-14 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. 

Running back Nyheim Hines (2015-17), #22 Cleveland Browns: Hines did not play in the Browns’ 37-33 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. 

Safety Tanner Ingle (2018-22), #34 Los Angeles Rams: Ingle logged seven total tackles, tied for the second-most on the team, in the Rams’ 17-15 loss to the Houston Texans. He had four solo stops in the loss.

Outside linebacker Savion Jackson, #54 Los Angeles Chargers: Jackson made four total tackles, with one solo stop, and a tackle for a loss in the Chargers’ 26-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys. He played 28 total snaps, which marked a season-high after he played just eight the week prior. 

Defensive tackle Justin Jones (2014-17), #93 Arizona Cardinals: Jones did not play in the Cardinals’ 38-12 loss to the Denver Broncos. 

Linebacker Vi Jones (2019-21), #53 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jones made five total tackles, all solo stops, in the Buccaneers’ 24-14 win over the Miami Dolphins. He had one tackle for a loss in 71 total snaps. 

Cornerback Robert Kennedy III (2023), #40 Los Angeles Chargers: Kennedy dazzled in the secondary for the Chargers in the team’s 26-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys. He logged seven total tackles with four solo stops, an interception, a pass defended and a quarterback hit with fellow Pack Pro Savion Jackson on the Chargers’ defense.

Running back Zonovan Knight (2019-21), #28 Detroit Lions: Knight had 10 carries for 27 yards in the Lions’ 24-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also logged one reception for eight yards in the victory.

Defensive tackle T.Y. McGill Jr. (2011-14), #96 San Francisco 49ers: McGill had one total tackle in the 49ers’ 24-24 tie with the Las Vegas Raiders. He played 26 total snaps in the contest, the fewest of his preseason as the regular season nears.

Center Dylan McMahon (2019-23), #63 Philadelphia Eagles: McMahon played 63 total snaps in the Eagles’ 26-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He posted a 62.4 overall offense score, according to PFF, with an above-average 75.0 pass-blocking mark. 

Defensive tackle Alim McNeill (2018-20), #54 Detroit Lions: McNeill did not play in the Lions’ 24-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (2016-18), #16 Las Vegas Raiders: Meyers did not play in the Raiders’ 24-24 tie with the San Francisco 49ers. 

Defensive tackle Larrell Murchison (2018-19), #52 Los Angeles Rams: Murchison did not play in the Rams’ 17-15 loss to the Houston Texans. He left the team’s first preseason game with an arm injury and has not appeared in a game since.

Kicker Brayden Narveson (2023), #47 Tennessee Titans: Narveson went 2-for-3 on field goal attempts in the Titans’ 30-27 win over the New Orleans Saints. He hit a long of 31 yards, while he missed a 59-yarder at the end of the first half. Narveson also hit both extra point attempts he kicked in the victory.

Running back Trent Pennix (2018-23), #36 Indianapolis Colts: Pennix was waived by the Colts after he suffered a groin injury in his preseason debut.

Linebacker Germaine Pratt (2014-18), #57 Cincinnati Bengals: Pratt did not play in the Bengals’ 27-14 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. 

Long snapper Joe Shimko (2019-23), #47 Arizona Cardinals: Shimko did not play in the Cardinals’ 38-12 loss to the Denver Broncos.

Defensive end James Smith-Williams (2016-19), #50 Atlanta Falcons: Smith-Williams did not play in the Falcons’ 31-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

Defensive lineman Kentavius Street (2014-17), #75 Atlanta Falcons: Street did not play in the Falcons’ 31-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

Wide receiver Thayer Thomas (2017-22), #89 Minnesota Vikings: Thomas did not play in the Vikings’ 26-3 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. 

Linebacker Drake Thomas (2019-22), #42 Seattle Seahawks: Thomas made his preseason debut with two total tackles, one solo, in the Seahawks’ 37-33 win over the Cleveland Browns. He played 25 total snaps in the team’s victory.

Offensive guard Joe Thuney (2012-15), #62 Kansas City Chiefs: Thuney did not play in the Chiefs’ 31-24 loss to the Chicago Bears.

Linebacker Payton Wilson (2018-23), #41 Pittsburgh Steelers: Wilson did not play in the Steelers’ 24-17 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Quarterback Russell Wilson (2007-09/Finished at Wisconsin), #3 Pittsburgh Steelers: Wilson earned the start in the Steelers’ 24-17 loss to the Detroit Lions. He was 2-for-2 for 26 yards as he led a touchdown drive on his only series of the contest.


Offensive guard Chandler Zavala (2021-22), #62 Carolina Panthers: Zavala played 12 total snaps in the Panthers’ 31-26 win over the Buffalo Bills. He played at left guard next to fellow Pack Pro Ikem Ekwonu. Zavala logged a 71.6 offense grade from PFF, including an 81.2 pass blocking score.
