Purdue transfer offensive lineman Jalen Grant commits to NC State
NC State landed its likely starting center for the 2025 season this weekend. Purdue senior offensive lineman Jalen Grant committed to the Wolfpack after visiting campus Friday and Saturday, adding a ton of experience to the trenches in Raleigh.
Following Zeke Correll’s lone season at NC State, the program needed to add another center with starting experience. Grant will take on that role and compete for the starting job next fall. He appeared in three games in 2024, his fifth season of college football, after starting for Purdue the year prior.
On3 considers him the No. 53 interior offensive lineman in the portal. This is his second time transferring after starting his career at Bowling Green. The future Wolfpack center will arrive in Raleigh with one season of eligibility remaining.
During his career in the MAC, Grant started 27 games over three years, splitting time between left guard and center. He has the versatility to play both spots, but he is expected to play center at NC State. The Pack commit recorded a 60.9 Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade over 802 snaps, giving up 18 quarterback pressures and 1 sack.

Grant helped lead a productive Purdue rushing offense in 2023, starting 12 games at right guard as the Boilermakers racked up their most yards on the ground since 2012.
The 6-3, 285-pound lineman’s role dropped off the next year. He appeared in 3 games at both guard spots and left tackle. Grant saw the field for 50 total snaps and logged a 70.3 PFF Grade. He allowed 2 pressures and 1 sack over that stretch before entering the transfer portal after the season.
NC State now holds 4 transfer portal commitments for the 2025 Wolfpack, including three linemen. Utah State tackle Teague Andersen, North Carolina A&T center Brock Stukes and Elon tight end Cody Hardy have all pledged to the Wolfpack.
