BREAKING: OT Rico Jackson signs with NC State
NC State picked up its first commitment of December’s early signing day Wednesday morning when Rico Jackson signed with the Wolfpack. The three-star offensive tackle officially visited Raleigh over the weekend and sent in his letter of intent just a few days later.
Jackson was previously committed to Illinois but reopened his recruitment over the summer after taking an unofficial trip to NC State. He returned to campus for his official visit and quickly shut down his recruitment.
He picked the Pack over offers from Michigan, Miami and others. Jackson’s commitment comes after three-star offensive tackle Charlie Symonds decommitted from NC State. The lineman plans to host a signing ceremony at 9 a.m. EST.
Jackson is NC State’s No. 18 commit in the 2023 class and the fourth offensive lineman, joining Kamen Smith, Darion Rivers and Obadiah Obasuyi. His commitment helped the Pack climb one more spot in On3’s Team Recruiting Rankings to No. 34.
The lineman is considered the No. 106 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 217 prospect in Florida. Leading up to his announcement, The Wolfpacker submitted an expert prediction in-favor of NC State.

A summary of where things stand going into the day.
NC State has 17 high school prospects and 3 transfer portal additions committed, but that list will likely change.
One commit, On3 Consensus three-star defensive back Tamarcus Cooley from Rolesville (N.C.) High, has acknowledged that he no longer considers himself a NC State commit, although Cooley has not publicly decommitted. Maryland is a serious option for Cooley, and his older brother, former Louisville running back Trevion Cooley, recently announced he was transferring to Georgia Tech.
Another visitor from the weekend was former Cincinnati defensive end Noah Potter, who is in the transfer portal and looking for a new home by January. NC State is believed to be a top contender for Potter, who was an On3 Consensus four-star prospect out of Mentor (Ohio) High that started his career at Ohio State.
An addition transfer portal official visitor from last weekend was Ole Miss corner Miles Battle, but less is known about his recruitment.
