PackPros: Russell Wilson traded to the Denver Broncos

In a blockbuster trade, first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former NC State football quarterback Russell Wilson is headed to the Denver Broncos.
Schefter labeled it “one of the largest trades in NFL history.”
Terms of the agreement include Denver sending Seattles its first, second and fifth round picks in 2022 and then a first and second rounder in 2023 plus quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant and defensive lineman Shelby Harris. In return, Denver received Wilson and a 2022 fourth-round pick.
The 33-year old Wilson has spent 10 years with Seattle, who drafted him in the third round in 2012, and has thrown for 37,059 yards and 292 touchdowns while amassing a QB rating of 101.8.
He has led Seattle to a pair of Super Bowl appearances and one NFL title. He led the NFL in TD passes in 2017 and QB rating in 2015.

Wilson has also rushed for 4,689 yards and 23 scores.
He is a nine-time Pro Bowl selection and won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2020.
Wilson’s No. 16 is permanently honored at NC State after he played three seasons in Raleigh. He was a first-team All-ACC selection after his rookie season in 2008, and two years later Wilson led the Pack to a top-25 finish in the final polls and nearly a trip to the ACC Championship game.
In a much-talked about decision, head coach Tom O’Brien allowed Wilson to transfer to Wisconsin after the 2010 season, and he he led the Badgers to a Rose Bowl appearance and was named All-Big Ten a year later.
Wilson has returned to Raleigh multiple times in the aftermath of his departure from NC State, most recently giving the university’s commencement address last spring. He also was back for a spring game in 2014 to have his jersey honored.
NC State players who now wear his No. 16 have a patch on their uniform honoring Wilson.
