Terrell Anderson, Keenan Jackson embrace every opportunity to make an impact at NC State
Keenan Jackson could have caught three touchdown passes in a game as a child, but if he didn’t give his all as a run blocker, that car ride home would be a long one. His father wanted Jackson to give just as much effort as a blocker as he did a route runner. And when Jackson, a true freshman, arrived at NC State this offseason, his father’s emphasis on helping in the run game stuck with him. “It’s always been a motto and mindset,” Jackson said Wednesday. “He let me know before I came up here, I needed to take it here and not to forget where I came from and how I grew up playing football.” Now, that fatherly coaching advice for years growing up has created a role for Jackson to fill in his first year with the Wolfpack. Jackson is second on the team in run blocking, according to Pro Football Focus, with a 73.4 mark (he trails only graduate center Zeke Correll with a 73.7). So, it’s safe to say that the advice he got at a young age has paid off.
