Terrell Anderson is NC State's No. 1 WR recruit in 20-plus years
Terrell Anderson made history when he signed with NC State. He is the Wolfpack’s highest-ranked wide receiver signee since 2002 and arrives in Raleigh as one of the top recruits in program history out of Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley High.
On3 released its final class of 2024 On300 Monday afternoon. Anderson continued his steady ascent up the rankings and finished the cycle as the nation’s No. 51 prospect, the No. 9 wide receiver nationally and the No. 2 recruit in North Carolina.
He picked the Wolfpack over Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina and a long list of other Power Five offers. Anderson enrolled early in January and, at 6-3, 190 pounds, Anderson will likely compete for a significant role in the receiver rotation this fall.
The On3 database contains the rankings for NC State’s recruiting classes dating back to 2002. Richard Washington signed with the Wolfpack that year as a five star prospect and the nation’s No. 44 recruit. Five-star cornerback Tramain Hall joined NC State’s program that year before playing receiver in college. Washington caught 73 passes for 848 yards and 10 touchdowns during his career in Raleigh.
Anderson arrives at NC State as the first top-100 receiver signee in 22 years. Micah Crowell is the Wolfpack’s most recent four-star wide receiver, 2019, and he ranked No. 197 nationally and No. 32 in his position group. Jay Smith, who signed with NC State in 2007, ranked No. 187 nationally was the No. 24 wide receiver in the country.
Now that he is officially enrolled with the Wolfpack, Anderson has entered elite company as one of the top recruits in program history, regardless of position. In Dave Doeren’s 11 years as head coach, NC State has only signed five players ranked higher than the former Grimsley High star.

Charles Power’s take on Terrell Anderson
Charles Power, On3’s director of scouting and rankings, thinks extremely highly of Anderson and ranks him 41 spots higher than the next-closest recruiting service.
“When I watched Terrell Anderson, I could see a guy who can win in a lot of different phases,” Power said in a December interview with TheWolfpacker.com. “Dynamic after the catch, I think he runs well and then can make plays at the catch point as well. I think he’s got a nice, versatile skill set. I tend to look at receiver as a true skill position, and I think his skill and just athletic ability stood out… I think he’s one that Wolfpack fans should be very excited about.”
On3 also provided an NFL comparison for Anderson— former LSU and Carolina Panthers wide receiver Brandon LaFell.
