NC State’s post-spring EDGE transfer portal haul continues to grow. The Wolfpack landed a commitment from Texas Tech transfer edge rusher Joseph Adedire on Tuesday afternoon after a two-day official visit to begin the week.

Adedire is the third transfer at his position to pledge to the Wolfpack since the program’s spring practice slate ended on April 4. He joins Utah State transfer Cian Slone and Wyoming product Sabastian Harsh as it appears the Pack is looking to bolster its outside linebacker corps under defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot.

The 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive lineman suffered a preseason injury that held him off the field for the 2024 season. He has since recovered and is ready to go for the 2025 season with two years of eligibility remaining.

Adedire has posted 44 career tackles, including 7.5 for a loss, with 2 sacks and a pass defended in his two healthy seasons of college football. He was able to force 21 total quarterback pressures, including 12 as a sophomore. Adedire improved from his freshman to sophomore campaign, going from 19 tackles with 3.5 for a loss in 2022 to 25 stops with 4 for a loss in 2023. He logged 1 sack in each season.

The Mansfield, Texas, native made eight starts at outside linebacker in 2023, which featured 12 total appearances. He was a major contributor as a freshman as well, where he was the only true freshman to play in more than four games for the Red Raiders’ defense, including six starts at EDGE.

Adedire, a former four-star recruit in the 2022 cycle as the No. 230 player nationally, was an All-Big 12 honorable mention selection by the league’s coaches as a freshman.

Strengthening the defense seems to be a priority for the program. In addition to the trio of edge rushers the Wolfpack has added in the post-spring portal window, NC State bolstered the middle of its defense with Northwestern linebacker Kenny Soares Jr. earlier this month
