The NC State football team is rising up the respective top 25 polls and reached top-10 status after a 41-10 win at home Saturday evening over Connecticut. The Wolfpack improved to 4-0 with the victory and in the process helped secure the ESPN College GameDay destination next Saturday when NC State travels to No. 5 Clemson.

With host Justin H. Williams, The Wolfpacker’s Matt Carter dive into the NC State-Connecticut game from multiple angles in our weekly Postgame Reflections podcast episode, which can be seen and heard below.

Among the many topics discussed:

• The general takeaways from the game between NC State and UConn, including how this result could have been easily forecast. (Note: Matt Carter predicted that the Wolfpack would win 45-7.) While the reality is that the Huskies were a completely overmatched team against NC State, the Pack handled business like a good team is supposed to do.

• Why there were some positive signs for the NC State offense, especially in the passing game. Getting super senior Thayer Thomas and fifth-year redshirt junior Devin Carter involved from the receiving corps was, in particular, an important development going into the Clemson game, especially after witnessing the Tigers’ issues defending the pass in Clemson’s double-overtime win at Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon.

• Some takeaways from the aforementioned Clemson-WFU thriller that may have been the game of the weekend in college football on Saturday. Was the outcome a potential best-case scenario for NC State? Is there anything that was shown in that game that might benefit the Wolfpack?

And a consensus agreement that the gap between the Atlantic and Coastal divisions of the ACC may be as large as ever.
