The Wolfpacker Recruiting Show: NC State prepares for pivotal official visits
NC State football begins the busiest stretch of its recruiting calendar this weekend, welcoming double-digit prospects to campus for summer official visits. Those trips begin Friday, June 7 and wrap up Sunday, June 9.
Even though signing day is more than six months away, this is the most important month in the recruiting cycle. The Pack will try and assemble most of its recruiting class over the next couple of months, and official visits are a critical step towards that happening.
A handful of visitors will likely end up committing during their visits and, beyond those immediate announcements, NC State will lay the foundation for late-summer and fall decisions. Last year, the Wolfpack’s official visits with four-star wide receiver Jonathan Paylor and four-star linebacker Elijah Groves left memorable enough impressions to ensure they both signed with the program.
In preparation for another action-packed recruiting weekend, TheWolfpacker.com recorded another episode of The Wolfpacker Recruiting Show. This is the second episode of our newest podcast that provides an in-depth look into NC State’s recruiting efforts.
The Wolfpacker Recruiting Show host Ethan McDowell opened the episode by talking about why June is such an important month for the Wolfpack’s 2025 class. Then, NC State three-star defensive line commit Colby Cronk and priority three-star cornerback Robert Jones III both joined the show for interviews about their recruitments.

During their conversations with Ethan, they discussed:
*** Cronk’s early commitment decision and what drew him to NC State. He also talked about his plans to recruit his peers during his visit and everything he is looking forward to about his trip to Raleigh. The defensive lineman also broke down his huge junior season, what he has been working on this offseason and his spring track and field accolades.
*** Jones shared the latest news around his recruitment. The cornerback recently dropped a top five that included NC State, so he explained why the Wolfpack remains in contention for him. This will be his first trip to Raleigh. Jones talked about what he wants to see from this visit and explained what NC State needs to do to make the program feel like home. Going into his official visit schedule, he has a firm commitment date set for later this month.
*** In the second half of the show, Ethan ran through the expected visitors list for the weekend, sharing highlights and recruiting intel on each prospect.
