It is March, which means postseason basketball time has arrived for NC State’s men’s and women’s programs. Both teams are nearing their ACC tournament debuts for the 2023-24 campaign, including the women, who open up play on Friday.

With trophy season approaching, The Wolfpacker Show recorded another episode to recap the recent games as well as all of the NC State news heading into the weekend.

NC State’s women’s program closed the season with a pair of wins over No. 19 Syracuse and Wake Forest at Reynolds Coliseum over the weekend. The Wolfpack clinched the No. 2 seed in the league tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum, and they are set to play Friday afternoon at 5 p.m.

While the women are on the upswing, it has been a rocky stretch for NC State’s men’s basketball program over the last week. The Wolfpack lost both of its games this weekend — at then-No. 9 North Carolina and at home against No. 9 Duke.

The Wolfpack has its final regular season contest on the schedule for Saturday night at Pittsburgh, which will establish what seed the red and white earns in the ACC tournament at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. NC State could play on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on if it finishes inside the top-9 of the league.

In this episode of The Wolfpacker Show, hosts Ethan McDowell and Noah Fleischman discussed:

– How NC State’s women’s basketball team won two vastly different games against the Orange and Demon Deacons over the weekend. The hosts zeroed in on junior guard Saniya Rivers’ ability to score the basketball for the Pack, while freshman guard Zoe Brooks played a pivotal role against Syracuse’s star player.

– Ethan broke down who the NC State women could play in its opening game of the ACC Tournament since it holds a double-bye straight to the quarterfinals.

– After a quick break, the hosts talked about NC State’s men’s basketball’s weekend and where the Wolfpack can go from this point on. They also talked about how crucial a win at Pitt is on Saturday night.

– To close out the show, the hosts took turns shouting out different Olympic sports programs at NC State that continue to play well as the calendar has flipped into March.
