The Wolfpacker Show: Breaking down NC State’s transfer portal moves
NC State men’s and women’s basketball have been active in the transfer portal this offseason. Both programs have acquired key talent for next season, while they also lost a handful of players to the portal as well.
The men’s program lost three players to the transfer portal, but it has added four and is working on a fifth player for next season’s roster. The women, meanwhile, lost three players but brought in a mid-major star to bolster the starting lineup.
The Wolfpacker Show, hosted by Ethan McDowell and Noah Fleischman, taped another episode to recap and analyze all of the transfer portal news.
In this episode, the hosts discussed:
– NC State men’s basketball’s portal activity. The Wolfpack have been uber involved in the transfer portal since the Final Four run and it has been able to land key talent in the process.
– The hosts broke down all of the men’s and women’s basketball additions, including where each player will fit on the team next season.
– Louisville transfer forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield kicked off the Wolfpack’s portal activity, while Georgetown transfer Dontrez Styles soon joined him. NC State also added Louisville transfer Mike James and Bowling Green guard Marcus Hill to this point in the portal.

– Noah discussed the versatility of each transfer and how the balanced scoring could return next year with the amount of proven collegiate players the Wolfpack added through the portal.
– The hosts also did an impact index of each transfer portal loss the Wolfpack men had — guards LJ Thomas and Kam Woods, and forward Ernest Ross. They also included forward Mohamed Diarra, who recently turned professional, in this conversation.
– After running through each men’s basketball transfer, the hosts flipped to the women’s team. NC State added just one transfer portal player, Boston University’s Caitlin Weimar, an elite mid-major defender. Ethan broke down her addition and where she fits in next year’s team.
– The hosts also talked about the depth of the women’s team next year and how expectations will be high moving into next season after the run to Cleveland and the Final Four.
