The Wolfpacker Show: NC State ACC Tournament talk
NC State women’s basketball just wrapped up its ACC Tournament run, while the men’s team is in the middle of its own journey towards a potential title. The Wolfpacker Show dropped another episode discussing both squads.
After the women’s team recorded wins over Duke and Florida State in its first two league tournament games, NC State suffered a heartbreaking loss to Notre Dame Sunday. The Wolfpack went cold in the final minutes, and the Irish hit timely shots to erase a 6-point fourth-quarter deficit.
Despite the defeat, the program remains in position to host NCAA Tournament games, with Selection Sunday scheduled for March 17 at 8 p.m. ET.
The Wolfpack’s men’s team started its ACC run in the first round. In order to make the NCAA Tournament the team, now sitting at 18-14 on the season, will have to string together 5 wins in 5 days. NC State kicked off that run with a high-scoring victory over Louisville.
Guard Casey Morsell paced the Wolfpack with a 25-point performance during the 94-85 victory. Louisville jumped out to an early lead, but NC State clawed its way back for an opening-round victory after it attempted 40 free throws and knocked down 33.
Star guard DJ Horne did not play in this contest due to a hip flexor injury, and he is considered a game- time decision for the program’s second-round clash with No. 7 seed Syracuse, which is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m..
