NC State basketball, both men’s and women’s, have had busy offseason thus far. That has become the new norm in college hoops, largely thanks to the NCAA’s transfer portal and opportunities afforded by name, image and likeness (NIL).

For NC State, the men’s team has added 5 players via the transfer portal: guards DJ Horne (Arizona State) and Jayden Taylor (Butler), wing MJ Rice (Kansas) and low post players Mohamed Diarra (Missouri) and Ben Middlebrooks (Clemson).

On the women’s side, the team has added Sacramento State sharp-shooting forward Katie Peneueta, but is still looking to add a couple more additions via the portal to fill out the roster.

The men’s team is also seeking more help, chiefly a point guard. One-time target Jaden Bradley from Alabama picked Arizona on Wednesday evening.

Is getting a point guard vital for NC State basketball? TheWolfpacker.com duo of Matt Carter and Ethan McDowell debate that point and more in the latest episode of The Wolfpacker Show.

Among other topics discussed during the podcast:

• Is the combination of Diarra and Middlebrooks an upgrade over last season’s duo of Ebenezer Dowuona and Dusan Mahorcic, who played in the low post with DJ Burns Jr.? Both Dowuona and Mahorcic are in the transfer portal, with Dowuona headed to NC State’s ACC rival Georgia Tech.

The fact that Mahorcic missed most of the season with a knee injury may make that a moot question, but could it be better even with a healthier Mahorcic?
